چکیده

Tabular and ultrastructural studies were made of 1,000 cells, each from the thoracic duct lymph of six adult, clinically normal cats. Cells of the thoracic duct lymph were morphologically classified by visual inspection at the ultrastructural level and found to consist of 84.9% lymphocytes, 5.7% lymphoid blast cells, 6.7% immature and mature plasmacyte-like cells, 0.2% monocytes, 0.4% mitotic cells, 1.7% granulocytes and 0.3% unclassified agranulocytes. Quantitative studies of number per cell section and profile size of mitochondria among

Tabular and ultrastructural studies of agranulocytes of the thoracic duct of calves.

S TUDIES OF THE CELLULAR EFFLUENT of the thoracic duct of the calf were undertaken to provide background information to be used in interpretations of changes in agranubocytes#{176} observed in experimentally immunized calves as well as in preleukemic and leukemic cattle. This report concerns an attempt to characterize the ultrastructure of the various agranulocytes encountered in the thoracic d...

Thoracic duct in cats (Felis catus)

To describe the origin, course and termination of the thoracic duct in cats, eight adult healthy cats of both sexes and of different ages, were examined. Abdominal cavity was opened with a median incision under general anaesthesia. Then, Indian ink was injected into the lymph nodes of the abdominal cavity, and into the popliteal lymph nodes. After exsanguination by the conventional methods, the...

THE IN VITRO DIFFERENTIATION OF MAST CELLS Cultures of Cells from Immunized Mouse Lymph Nodes and Thoracic Duct Lymph on Fibroblast Monolayers

When cells from lymph nodes or thoracic duct of mice hyperimmunized with protein antigens are cultivated on embryo monolayers in the presence of the antigen, numerous clones of mast cells appear. The histochemical and ultrastructural characteristics of the cells permit their identification as mast cells and distinguish them from the phagocytic histiocytes that usually arise in abundance in simi...

The circulation of malignant lymphoid cells in thoracic duct lymph of rats with lymphosarcoma and lymphatic leukemia.

The circulation of lymphoid cells in thoracic duct lymph of rats with lymphosarcoma (LSA) and leukemia was investi gated. Rats were inoculated with. Murphy-Sturm lymphosar coma either by the i.m. route, which yields a localized tumorsimulating LSA, or by the i.v. route, which results in lymphatic leukemia (LL). Thoracic duct fistulae were estab lished in four groups of rats, including untreated...
